I recently posted 5 Practical Tips for Eco-Friendly Travel over at Mommy Living the Life of Riley. As I sit in the villa on the last day of our vacation, I thought it would be a great idea to reflect on how well I applied my own eco-friendly travel tips.
1. Bring a reusable water bottle Result: brought my stainless steel water bottle
2. Bring your own snacks, in reusable snack bags Result: dried fruit, nuts, and organic candy in reusable snack bags
3. Pack light Result: 47 pounds, but packed some of my husband's stuff, does that count?
4. Participate in hotel linen programs Result: reused bath towels
5. Rent a fuel-efficient vehicle Result: rented a Ford Focus
A few BONUS green checks:
1. Bought a bottle of organic wine
2. Walked to dinner instead of driving x 2 nights
3. Used my reusable grocery bags as beach bags
>> What eco-friendly actions do you take when you travel? Do you even think about being "green" on vacation?
I wouldn't mind sitting in a villa right now! Great tips, though, I'm going to have to remember these for our next vacation.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us for Friendly Friday!
We always reuse our towels and linens. I'm not a huge fan of people coming into our room when we aren't in it or even when we are! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! I'm following you back! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Oh how I too wish I was sitting in a villa but on the first day of vacation:)
ReplyDeleteWhen we were on vacation we do about the same things. We actually booked a hotel stay in an eco-friendly hotel that I just loved but they are not easy to find and more than often not at all. We definitely participate in the hotel linen/bath towel program, we bring our own snacks in the bags they come in but as needed we use reusable snack bags and have our stainless steel water bottles to take wherever we go. We love to walk everywhere we can because it allows us to take in so much more. Where I don't do as well is packing light but I am improving.
My Baby's Green - what eco-friendly hotel did you book? I'm interested!
ReplyDeleteGood tips! The resort we go to in Jamaica provides reusable water bottles that you can use while you're there. I have to say that I probably don't put as much thought into being green on vacation as I should.
