Over the past year, I have challenged myself to buy more local and small business items. I like supporting the "little people." Shopping at small and local businesses allows you to find items that are unique and very well made. If Black Friday is not your ideal way to shop for holiday gifts, then consider venturing out on Small Business Saturday.
The 2nd annual Small Business Saturday is a day
dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping
weekends of the year. On November 26, they are asking millions of people to Shop
Smallsm at their favorite local stores and help fuel
the economy.
Help to create a new tradition! Avoid the big box stores and spend your hard-earned money at small businesses. The customer service will be better and you will be more satisfied with unique and high quality gifts.
When we all shop small, it will be huge!
I think it's awesome that you're promoting Small Business Saturday on your blog. I should do the same. I'm not a huge fan of the big-box stores and I will not get involved in Black Friday in any way, shape or form!

I'm trying to shop more locally this year - it's hard, but I was able to get some clothes for my kids from a consignment shop instead of the stores we would normally shop at. it does feel great to support the local economy!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, Lisa - Great job for avoiding big box stores and shopping at consignment stores!.
ReplyDeleteAt first it is hard because we don't know where to go, but we find some fun and unique shops, then we'll hopefully become regular visitors. There are a few small shops in Cincinnati, so I hope to make some visits in the coming weeks.
Keep in mind, use cash as often as possible! Small businesses have to pay insane fees to use credit/debit cards!
ReplyDeleteZoo Keeper - great reminder! I always try to have some cash on hand if I am going to make small purchases.
