Frazoni Digital Cooking Thermometer [Review]

Since cuts of meat can be different sizes and weights, cooking by temperature is the best way to ensure the meat is cooked through or cooked to your preferred tenderness (like with beef and lamb). Digital cooking thermometers with probes that are designed to withstand hot oven temperatures or hot grill temperatures are a great addition to anyone's kitchen. Frazoni Digital Cooking Thermometer displays current temperature and set temperature to ensure your meat is cooked perfectly.

Frazoni Digital Thermometer comes with a probe and timer. The body is made from plastic and is fairly lightweight. The thermometer is powered by 1 AAA battery (not included) with a slot for a backup battery. The back of the unit has a clip and a stand that can be kicked out to keep the unit upright. The probe is heavy duty and is bent at a right angle. This is useful because the probe goes inside the meat and then the cord connects to the main unit that is outside the oven or the grill. The length of the cord was long enough to reach right outside the oven. The cord is a bit stiff, which sometimes moves the main unit a bit. I would recommend adding a magnet on the back of the unit so it can be attached to the side of the oven or microwave. Sometimes, I do not want the thermometer to sit on the counter if I am using the surface to prep food.

The probe goes inside the thickest part of meat or the dish you are preparing. If using the oven, the cord can be close in the oven door without any issues. The plastic thermometer body goes on the counter or on top of the oven away from heat.

One of the main features that I love about Frazoni Digital Thermometer is that you can set the temperature that you wanted to be alerted at. When I oven bake chicken breasts, I set the thermometer  to alert me at 160 degrees F. Then, I remove the chicken from the oven and let it come to 165 F (the chicken continues to cook for a little bit longer even though it is not int he oven). I like that the probe allows me to check to the temperature during the cooking process.

I have used Frazoni Digital Thermometer to cook chicken, beef and pork. The instructions come with food preparation guidelines. The recommended temperatures are standard USDA recommendations. I usually follow these and hardly ever get under cooked or over cooked meat.

One opportunity for improvement is to have an on/off button or switch. Otherwise, you have to remove the battery each time and then you lose the current time setting. Even if you use the thermometer on a daily basis, having an on/off button or switch will extend battery life.

The thermometer can also be used with a grill. Just remember to keep the plastic body away from the grill since the grill and the outside of the grill can get extremely hot.

The useful functionality and affordable price of the Frazoni Digital Cooking Thermometer makes this product a necessity in any kitchen. Stop second guessing if your food is cooked through. Use a digital thermometer!
