If you look closely at the photo, you can see some of the toxic body products I was still holding on to. I took the new, unused products to work for the other ladies in the office to take them if they wanted. I thought this would be better than throwing the new, unused products in the trash can. For the old and used products, I recycled what I could and threw the rest in the trash can. It broke my heart to fill the trash can, but I did not know what else to do with them.

This is an interesting scenario because it requires that we actually increase trash & recycling in order to decrease toxins. My feeling is that health wins out and that it's important to reduce the toxins we come in contact with. It's unfortunate that the activity increases the other but it's also a one time action since from this point on, one can avoid the toxic stuff. As for safely getting rid of the stuff ... I'm not really sure if there is a truly safe way to dispose of it.
I think the only way is to toss it. I would however, check the bottles first to make sure if any are recyclable, then clean them out, and recycle. However, I do think that most have to be tossed in the garbage :/
