Wordless Wednesday - First Pick of the Season

They were soft, but still a little sour.  I will need to let the others ripen longer.

(Ignore the plantless pot in the photo. I trimmed the thyme down a little too short and it has not grown back...yet!)

I'm so jealous! I planted a blackberry bush in the spring, but it's not doing much yet. Blackberries are my absolute favorite berry. :)

I'm with Kiersten ... totally jealous! I adore berries. When I was a kid, blackberries grew wild near our house. My mom would send us out with buckets and tell us that she'd bake us a pie if we picked enough. Well, purple mouths and an afternoon later, we did it ... and that night she made us a pie. :-)

@Kiersten and @Small Footprints - Don't be jealous...the berries have all been eaten, but not by me! I think it's the birds. My husband thinks it's the deer. There is bird netting around the bush, but it's loose. Today, I'm going to redo the netting with stakes so that it's tighter. I am determined to grow blackberries!

@Small Footprints - blackberry pie...yum!
