Beessential Natural Skin Care Products [Review]

I am always on the hunt for all natural and organic skin care products. I love finding companies that are focusing on using natural and organic ingredients and limiting those ingredients to just the ones that are absolutely necessary. Beessential Natural Body Care crafts natural skin care products by hand, beginning with fresh, pure honey, beeswax and Propolis from their family farm in Ohio. They add natural oils (coconut, olive, virgin hemp oils) to create effective and natural body products.

Beessential offers a variety of natural and organic skin care products:
  • Lip balm
  • Natural soap bars
  • Foaming hand soap
  • Body wash
  • Shampoo
  • Hair conditioner
  • Creams (including fragrance-free creams)

I love that these are the basic body products that everyone has in their home. I also love that the products are naturally scented or are even offered unscented. These items can also be bundled into gift baskets.

I received the follow items to use: Totally Hip Hemp & Lemongrass Bar Soap, Peppermint Body Wash, and Orange Ginger Lip Balm.

Totally Hip Hemp & Lemongrass Bar Soap Ingredients
The Saponified Oils of: Coconut, Olive, Palm, Shea Butter, Lemongrass, Avocado; Beeswax, Titanium Dioxide, Lavender and Geranium Essential Oils

Almost all of the ingredients are safe to use on the body. The oils have been saponified naturally and essential oils are the source of scent. The Titanium Dioxide is rated as 1-3 (depending on usage) by the EWG Skin Deep Database. Titanium Dioxide is used to provide color to body products. The major concern with it is inhalation. Since it is contained in the soap and gets washed off, there is minimal risk with this bar soap.

Results: I love all of the oils that go into this soap. The soap created a luxurious, rich lather and a little went a long way. I do not like natural soaps that hardly lather, making you feel like you need to use half of the bar of soap to wash your whole body. This soap lasted quite a bit of time (even with my husband who uses a lot of soap). The scent was very pleasant and not overpowering. At $5.99, I would purchase this soap again. I like the natural ingredients, the effectiveness at cleaning without making my skin feel dry, and that the soap lasted for quite a bit of time.

Peppermint Body Wash Ingredients
The Saponified Oils of: Coconut, Olive, Hemp; Vegetable Glycerin, Aloe, Guar Gum, Honey, Peppermint Essential Oil, Rosemary Extract, Citric Acid

As with the soap, almost all of the ingredients are safe to use on the body or are of low concern. The oils have been saponified naturally and essential oils (and honey) are the source of scent. Guar Gum is rated as 1 and Citric Acid is rated as 2 by EWG's Skin Deep Database. Both are of low hazard to the skin and the body. Vegetable Glycerin and Guar Gum are used as emulsifiers to help the oils and other ingredients stay mixed together. Rosemary Extract and Citric Acid are used as natural preservatives. These two are the most natural and safest preservatives that are available.

Results: I love this body wash! I have tried many natural body washes and they never seem to lather well. Becology Body Wash lathers well! The peppermint essential oil gives the body wash a refreshing and reinvigorating scent. Perfect for use during the morning shower. Just remember that peppermint oil on private body part or in eyes/nose/mouth will cause a tingling feeling. This body wash does not contain sulfites or hard detergent and is a great natural body wash.

Orange Ginger Lip Balm Ingredients
Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Cupuacu Butter, Olive Oil; Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Propolis Extract, Honey, Natural Honey Flavor, Monk Fruit Extract, Orange and Ginger Oil

The main ingredient in this lip balm is beeswax, which is sourced straight from the family farm in Ohio. Beeswax helps to keep the lip balm ingredients on your skin to keep the skin moisturized. The mix of natural oils helps to moisturize and heal chapped lips. Again, natural oils are used to flavor and scent the lip balm. Tocopherol is a natural preservative and is one of the safer ones. Tocopherol is rated as 1 by EWG's Skin Deep Database (low hazard). I would be curious to know about the Propolis Extract and Monk Fruit Extract to understand if any chemicals are used to create those extracts. I will also contact Beessential to understand the source of the Natural Honey Flavor. In general, anything with "natural flavor" as the ingredient should be avoided because the source is either soy or the scents are synthetic. Remember, the word "natural" is not regulated like "organic" is regularted.

Results: I enjoyed the orange and ginger flavor combination. It was not overpowering, but was pleasant. This flavor combination is not too common in the natural lip balm world, so I am happy that Beessentials offers it. The natural oil combinations did a great job at keeping my lips moisturized. At $2.99, Beessentials Lip Balm is an affordable and effective natural lip balm.

I am glad that I discovered Beessential products. I love that they used natural and locally sourced ingredients. They care about the products and the ingredients. Give their products a try and you will be hard pressed not to purchase them again. Their gift packs make great gifts for Mother's Day, teachers, hostess gifts, and so much more!

Disclosure: I received the product to facilitate this review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own and are honest.
